We are so ready for some cooler weather here in Northern Virginia! While the temps may be saying that Summer is still hanging on, the calendar says it is almost time our most favorite time of year: changing leaves, backyard fires in the evening, and, of course, enjoying some of the fantastic Fall festivals around the area!

Below is just a sample of some of the best Fall celebrations this region has to offer.

Cox Farms Fall Festival
September 14 & 15; September 21-November 5

Featuring a pumpkin patch, giant slides, hayrides, rope swings, farm animals, corn mazes, straw tunnels, a goat village, apples, and cider. For the more adventurous, try out the Haunted Trail, September 20-November 4

Fairfax County Brewfest

Featuring more than 40 breweries showing off their best American-style beers; includes live music by local bands and children’s activities like face painting, airbrush tattooing, moon bounces, and rock climbing.

Conservation Discovery Day at the Smithsonian’s National Zoo

Offered by the Smithsonian Biology Conservation Institute, visitors enjoy a behind-the-scenes look at the National Zoo’s world-renowned science, research, and animal care processes, while interacting with scientists and learning about their research on the grounds of the National Zoo. Fall for Fairfax

Manassas Fall Jubilee

Mount Vernon Fall Wine Festival and Sunset Tour

Mount Vernon Fall Harvest Days

Features a variety 18th century Fall activities, such as horse-drawn carriage rides, wheat treading in the 16-sided barn, a straw bale maze, blacksmithing demonstrations, and early American games and musical performances.

Marine Corps Marathon Finish Festival

Various locations around Rosslyn, VA
Offering giveaway booths and interactive stations, a beer garden, information booths, and live performances by local and national artists including the Quantico Marine Corps Rock Band.
